Volunteer Opportunities

Westlake Baseball depends on a strong volunteer program to operate. Please consider selecting from one of the different volunteer opportunities, such as Manager, Coach or Scorekeeping. Whatever you sign-up for, we at Westlake Baseball appreciate your support of the organization and our community!

Manager

The Manager is accountable for the day to day management of his assigned team. This includes, but not limited to, personnel management (e.g. players, coaches), practice and game execution, and team communication. He/she is also responsible for working directly with the Division Director regarding any issues throughout the season, whether it be personnel related, safety concerns, scheduling conflicts or injuries. Managers are selected using an interview process conducted by the Board of Directors. All Managers will undergo a background check and must be LiveScanned. Download and complete the Manager Application.

Coach

A Coach is responsible for supporting the team's Manager, with primary focus on the development of players, by enabling an environment for players to improve baseball skills throughout the year. Coaches are selected by a team Manager, but could be subject to an interview process conducted by the Board of Directors. All Coaches will undergo a background check and must be LiveScanned.

Team Parent

A Team Parent is responsible for supporting the team's Manager, with primary focus on leading the team's participation in League Fundraisers (e.g. raffles, spirit-wear) and League Snack-Bar volunteer shifts. He/she is also responsible for overall team communication, whether from the League or from the Manager.

Team Sponsor

Each team is responsible for securing a Team Sponsor. If a team cannot provide a Team Sponsor the members of the team will be responsible for covering the Team Sponsor fee. The Team Sponsor will receive a sponsor plaque and the team's gratitude for their generous donation.

Scorekeeper

Scorekeepers are accountable and responsible for documenting official game scorebook and statistics. Each team will be responsible for identifying a scorekeeper, as games must be scored by the home team. This position is required to be non-biased at games, therefore cannot cheer or give instructions from the score-booth. Training for individuals interested in Scorekeeping will be provided by the League.

Culture Keeper

Culture Keepers are responsible for maintaining a positive and peaceful atmosphere in the spectator area during games and practices. Culture Keepers should remind parents they should only cheer for the players and not voice negative or derogatory remarks to anyone (coaches, players, umpires, or fellow spectators) while at the fields.
