2021 Spring Season Update

Westlake Baseball Association Families,

Happy New Year! I wanted to provide everyone with an update on the WBA Spring 2021 Baseball season.

First, I want to thank everyone for their interest in playing this Spring, as our registration numbers look like they are going to be even higher this season than last. We can't wait to get the season started!

As I am sure everyone understands, the timing of the eventual start of the season is contingent on how COVID-19 cases trend in Ventura County.  WBA's Board of Directors is in contact with local and county organizations and is prepared to be flexible and move quickly, to ensure we start and complete a successful upcoming season.

Our number one priority remains being able to conduct our Spring 2021 baseball season safely and prudently. However, our other goal is to complete a full season of baseball, so if that means starting a little later in the Spring than we normally would, that is what we are prepared to do.

It is important to note that our interleague partners and other recreational and travel baseball organizations in Ventura County are all in the exact same situation and many are planning a timeline similar to our proposed schedule, which is described below.

As such, please note the following:

Initial registration this season will continue to consist of signing up to play, but not paying the registration fees until a later date. If you haven't yet registered, please do so soon, so we can prepare accordingly for the season.
Once we have the official green light from the County and the school district to play in the Spring, we will ask each of you to quickly re-enter the registration process and pay the registration fees at that time.

Evaluations will be delayed to a date to be determined. We are hopeful this can occur in the time frame of late February to early March.

Coach selections and Team Formations:
Coach selections and teams would be formed in March.

Start of the Season:
Our Opening Day had originally been scheduled for March 6, 2021. There is a high likelihood, based on the case rate in our community, that Opening Day will be delayed by 4 to 6 weeks, which will still allow for a full Spring baseball season.

We remain extremely optimistic that we will have a full Spring 2021 baseball season for all our kids.

As we continue to plan and prepare for the season, please be on the lookout for further announcements, as we will be under a condensed timeline to move quickly and make all this happen.

Again, thank you for your continued loyalty to Westlake Baseball.

Please continue to address any questions you may have directly to me at [email protected], and I will try and respond to them as soon as possible.
