2021 Spring Practice Information - 2/8 Update

Westlake Baseball Families:

We hope this email finds you and your families well. I think it is fair to assume that we share in your eagerness and excitement in getting back to the fields and playing BASEBALL! It has certainly been an enduring time for all. We remain anxious, hopeful and committed to providing a traditional season consisting of both practices and games for all of our kids once we are permitted by local and state authorities. As it stands today, in the current Purple Tier, organized sports, more specifically - baseball - is not permitted to play competitively team vs. team until we have downgraded into the Red Tier. Until our community is deemed a safer environment for organized sports and allows us to operate conventionally to deliver our families an enriching and complete sports experience, we will not be moving forward with evaluations nor forming teams at this juncture. Further complicating the matter for our organization is that of the four field locations Westlake Baseball utilizes regularly each season for practices and games, only one field is currently open to allowing group activity which of course presents a major challenge to a healthy organization of over 500 families! We will continue to update the league as the situation evolves and will hopefully continue to trend positively. We are planning and ready to proceed with the upcoming season upon the affirmative word.

We have put a lot of thought into what options we DO have while adhering to deep restrictions and extremely limited field access. We have come up with an OPTIONAL and LIMITED program in an effort to at the very least get some of our most eager players on the field and practicing until we are given approval to move forward with our official Spring 2021 season. WBA is offering a number of Practice Cohorts the use of the field we are currently permitted for, to practice 1-2 times a week while the league is at a standstill

Due to the limited field schedule there are only 20 cohort spots available therefor submissions are first come first serve. Please read the details below carefully so you can determine if this unique program is of interest to you.

Westlake Baseball Practice Cohorts Program

$1000 Fee per Cohort - 20 Cohorts Available

*Cohorts no larger than TWELVE registered Spring 2021 Westlake Baseball players, league age 7U (Pinto) or older plus TWO coaches will receive 1-2 one-and-a-half hour weekly practices at Triunfo Community Park.

*These groups will NOT be formed by Westlake Baseball. Those interested in this opportunity need to identify two Coaches and pre-form their cohort of families/neighbors/schoolmates and submit this form:

*Cohort registration will be done offline and is separate from Spring 2021 registration. Your designated Coaches or Cohort Parent will be responsible for collecting and submitting a one-time fee of $1000 per cohort to WBA. The length of this program is dependent on the start of the league’s 2021 Spring season and is therefor unknown at this time. There will be no refunds issued regardless of the potential brevity of the program. Fees were calculated to cover the field use, insurance, equipment and other related league costs.

*These cohorts will need to adhere to strict Ventura County and State Covid Rules & Regulations as well as WBA league precedent. Each registrant will be required to sign a waiver/release in order to participate. Protocols include but are not limited to temp checks, masks, no sharing of equipment, distance, no congregation of parents/spectators, etc.

*Once your cohort is complete and approved by Westlake Baseball your group will be given a time slot (Days/times MUST be flexible for your group) to begin the week of February 20 and will run until our Spring season is approved for play.

*These are pre-season Practice Cohorts only, not teams nor will practice apparel/uniforms be issued.
